Ingredients:

  • 4 large green tomatoes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Begin by slicing the green tomatoes into 1/2 inch thick slices, discarding the ends.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
  3. Place the flour onto a plate, and on another plate, mix together the cornmeal, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Dip each tomato slice into the flour to coat, then into the egg and milk mixture, and finally dredge it in the breadcrumb mixture until completely coated.
  5. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat (enough to cover the bottom of the pan by 1/2 inch).
