The Pizza Burger Pie
Ingredients
Dough:
- 2 cans of pizza dough or your favorite pizza dough recipe (you will need two dough rolls)
- 1/2 cup pizza tomato sauce
Stuffing:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped onion
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 3/4 cup tomato paste
- 4 oz sliced canned mushrooms (optional)
Toppings:
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup cheddar cheese
- 1 sliced tomato
- Pepperoni (to taste)
- 1/2 cup cooked, chopped ham or bacon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare the stuffing by combining ground beef, salt, black pepper, chopped onion, dried Italian seasoning, and tomato paste. Mix well.
- Form the mixture into a large hamburger patty, approximately 9 inches in diameter and 1 inch high.
- Cook the patty in a skillet until it is cooked through but still juicy, ensuring it is not dry.
- Grease a 9- or 10-inch pie pan and spread one of the pizza dough rolls evenly to form the crust.
- Place the cooked hamburger patty on the crust and top it with cheddar cheese.
- Roll out the second pizza dough and cover the hamburger patty, sealing the edges.
- Spread the pizza tomato sauce over the top crust, then add the mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the crust is lightly browned.
- Sprinkle the cooked pie with bacon.
- Serve immediately. Enjoy!
