Steamed Fish with Spicy Lime and Garlic Sauce

Ingredients

For the Fish:

  • 2 white fish fillets (such as sea bass, cod, or tilapia)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Sauce:

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-2 red chili peppers, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Preparation

  1. Prepare the Fish:

    Season the fish fillets with soy sauce, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Allow them to marinate for about 10 minutes.

  2. Steam the Fish:

    Place the fish fillets in a steaming basket or on a heatproof plate. Steam over boiling water for about 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked and flakes easily with a fork.

  3. Prepare the Sauce:

    In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, sliced chili peppers, fish sauce, lime juice, soy sauce, and sugar. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.

    Add the green onions and chopped cilantro, stirring to combine.

  4. Serve:

    Once the fish is cooked, transfer it to a serving plate. Generously spoon the spicy lime and garlic sauce over the steamed fish. Garnish with additional cilantro and sliced chili peppers if desired.

  5. Enjoy:

    Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
