Savory Instant Pot Round Steak with Onion Gravy
Ingredients:
- 4 to 6 slices of Round Steak
- 2 Pouches of Onion Gravy
- 2 Cups of Hot Water
- 1 Medium Yellow Onion, Sliced
- 3 Cloves of Garlic, Peeled and Smashed
- 2 Tablespoons of Butter
Instructions:
- In a skillet, use 1 tablespoon of butter to sear both sides of the round steak for 2 to 3 minutes each.
- In your Instant Pot, sauté sliced onions and smashed garlic in 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Add the seared steak slices to the Instant Pot.
- Dissolve the contents of two gravy pouches in 2 cups of hot water and pour over the meat and onions.
- Set your Instant Pot to the meat setting and cook on high pressure for 20 minutes.
- Release the steam, and your savory round steak with onion gravy is ready to be served.
Serve this delectable dish on creamy mashed potatoes, accompanied by buttery corn. Alternatively, you can pair it with rice or egg noodles, though the rich gravy complements mashed potatoes exceptionally well.
For slow cooker enthusiasts, sear the meat in a skillet, brown the onions and mushrooms, then add the gravy mix to your crock. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, ensuring the lid remains on. If opting for the oven, follow the same steps as the slow cooker, placing the meat, onions, and gravy in a casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 2.5 hours. Consider enhancing the recipe with mushrooms or a can of Cream of Mushroom Soup for a creamy twist.
