Quick & Easy Chinese-style Tender Beef
Ingredients
- 450g (1 lb) of thinly sliced beef sirloin or flank steak
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
Marinate the Beef
- In a bowl, combine the beef slices, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for 15 minutes.
Prepare the Stir-fry
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the wok.
- In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the bell pepper and onion to the wok and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Return the beef to the wok. Add sesame oil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together well and cook for an additional 2 minutes until evenly coated and heated through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
