Quick and Easy Weeknight Taco Sticks
This meal is a staple for our busy weeknights—delicious and addictive!
Ingredients
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 (13.8-ounce) can of Pillsbury Refrigerated Pizza Crust
- 1 package of taco seasoning mix
- 2 cups of shredded Mexican blend cheese
- Optional: Butter for brushing
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a well-seasoned pan over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain the excess fat, stir in the taco seasoning, and let it simmer for a minute or two to blend the flavors.
- On a clean surface, roll out the Pillsbury Pizza Dough into a large rectangle. Cut the dough into uniform rectangles.
- Sprinkle each rectangle generously with shredded cheese, saving a bit of cheese for later. Spoon the seasoned beef mixture over the cheese.
- Fold each dough rectangle over to encase the filling, forming sticks.
- Place the sticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between them. Brush with butter and sprinkle with salt, if desired. Additional cheese can also be added.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until the dough is golden brown.
- Allow the sticks to cool slightly before garnishing with chopped fresh cilantro for extra flavor and color, if desired.
Tips and Variations
- Vegetarian Option: Replace the ground beef with a mix of black beans, corn, and diced tomatoes.
- Cheese Variations: Try using sharp cheddar or smoked gouda for a different flavor profile.
- Mini Taco Sticks: Cut the dough into smaller triangles for bite-sized snacks, perfect for kids or light eaters.
