Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 diced onion
- 1 diced green bell pepper
- 8 ounces diced mushrooms
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup optional cheese whiz
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs (gluten-free for gluten-free)
- 4 ounces optional provolone
- 8 slices provolone
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat; sauté diced onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms until tender (7-10 minutes).
- Add chopped garlic, cook for an additional minute, and then remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, cheese whiz, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, eggs, breadcrumbs, and the sautéed onion, pepper, mushroom, and garlic mixture.
- Spread half of the mixture, place a solid piece of provolone in the center, top with the remaining mixture, seal edges securely, shape the loaf, and place it on a baking sheet.
- Bake in a preheated 350F/180C oven for 50-60 minutes or until cooked through.
- Spread sliced provolone over the loaf, return to the oven, and broil until the cheese melts (2-4 minutes).
