Perfectly Crispy Air Fryer Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this simple yet incredibly satisfying recipe for a Grilled Ham and Cheese sandwich made in the air fryer. With just a handful of ingredients, including your preferred bread, cheese, and thinly sliced ham, this sandwich transforms into a crunchy delight with gooey, melted cheese in every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (we recommend rye bread for added flavor)
  • 1-2 slices of ham (adjust to your preference)
  • 2-4 slices of your favorite cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise or softened butter (add more if desired)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by spreading a thin layer of mayonnaise or softened butter evenly on the outer side of two slices of bread. Ensure both slices are coated evenly and fit together seamlessly.
  2. Lay the bread slices, mayo side down, onto the air fryer tray. No preheating is necessary for the air fryer.
  3. Layer one portion of cheese onto each slice of bread, followed by the ham slices, and top it off with another layer of cheese. Finish by placing the second slice of bread on top, with the mayo side facing outward.
  4. Air fry the assembled ham and cheese sandwich at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted, and the bread’s exterior achieves a golden brown crispiness. Flip the sandwich halfway through the cooking process for even browning.
  5. Once perfectly crisped and golden, carefully remove the sandwich from the air fryer. Optionally, slice the sandwich in half before serving.
  6. Serve your delectable ham and cheese sandwich with a side of ketchup for dipping, if desired. Caution: the inside may still be hot, so allow it to cool slightly before enjoying every delicious bite.

Enjoy this delightful twist on a classic favorite, courtesy of your trusty air fryer!
