Perfect Roast Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken (approximately 4-5 pounds)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- 2 teaspoons olive oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Remove any giblets from the chicken cavity and pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels.
- Season the chicken generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper, both inside and out.
- In a small bowl, create a paste by mixing together olive oil (or melted butter), garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and paprika.
- Rub the chicken evenly with the prepared paste, ensuring it coats the entire surface.
- Place the seasoned chicken on a roasting pan or in a baking dish.
- Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Allow the roasted chicken to rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
