Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 stick of cold unsalted butter (1/2 cup)
  • 6 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips, approximately 10-11 oz (use half a bag for less chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small pieces.
  4. In a larger mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts, if using, until evenly distributed.
  7. Using a tablespoon, scoop out dough and roll into balls, then place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Keep an eye on them to avoid over-baking.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the softest texture, enjoy the cookies while they are still warm.
