Peach Cobbler Recipe

Peach Cobbler Recipe

“This is a keeper!” – My husband’s immediate reaction after the first bite, haha.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup white sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 9 ounces sliced peaches in syrup (including the syrup)
  • Cinnamon powder (optional) for sprinkling

Preparation

Preheat and Prepare (5 minutes):

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×9 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Create the Buttery Base (2 minutes):

  1. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish, tilting it to ensure the butter covers the bottom evenly.

Mix Dry Ingredients:

  1. In a bowl, combine the self-rising flour with 3/4 cup of white sugar. Mix thoroughly with a whisk or spoon.

Assemble the Cobbler (2 minutes):

  1. Evenly spread the flour and sugar mixture over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir; the flour will absorb the butter as it bakes, creating a golden, crispy crust.

Add Peaches (2 minutes):

  1. Pour the sliced peaches and their syrup over the flour mixture in the baking dish. The syrup will enhance the cobbler’s sweetness and moisture.

Bake to Perfection (45-50 minutes):

  1. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. The cobbler is ready when the top is brown and crispy, and the peaches are bubbling.

Serve Warm:

  1. Remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving to allow the filling to set.

Final Touches and Enjoyment:

  • Sprinkle extra sugar on top for added sweetness and a crunchy texture.
  • Optionally, sprinkle cinnamon on top for extra flavor.
  • Serve the peach cobbler warm, either by itself or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. The combination of ripe peaches with the sweet, buttery crust is simply irresistible!
