One Pan Smothered Turkey Wings
Ingredients:
- 4 turkey wings
- 2 bell peppers (red and green), julienned
- 1 medium-sized onion, julienned
- 4-5 cloves of garlic
- Seasoning to taste:
- 1/2 tsp seasoning salt
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp Tony Chachere’s no salt seasoning
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 tbsp butter
- Optional: fresh herbs (Sage, Thyme, Oregano)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine turkey wings, bell peppers, onion, and garlic.
- Coat the mixture with oil, ensuring the meat is thoroughly covered.
- Add the seasoning to the mixture and massage it into the meat.
- Optional: Let the mixture marinate for 1 hour to overnight.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking pan, adding herbs if desired.
- Mix chicken broth and flour to create a slurry, ensuring there are no flour lumps.
- Pour the chicken broth slurry into the open spaces between the turkey wings in the pan, avoiding pouring it over the wings.
- Place dollops of butter on top of the turkey wings.
- Cover the pan with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, remove the foil and baste the turkey wings with gravy/pan drippings.
- Bake uncovered for another hour, basting every 20 minutes until the turkey wings are tender. Add more water or chicken broth 1/4 cup at a time if the gravy is low.
- Let the turkey wings rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
