Irresistible Cinna-Bun Cake Recipe

Craving the comforting aroma of my mom’s cinnamon buns led me to create a delectable alternative – the Cinna-Bun Cake, affectionately named by our two-year-old as Cinabun Cake.

Ingredients:

Base:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Topping:

  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    • Prepare a 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan by either spraying with non-stick cooking oil or coating with butter.
  2. Base Creation:
    • In a large bowl, thoroughly combine all base ingredients (excluding melted butter).
    • Add the melted butter last and pour the mixture into the prepared pan; set aside.
  3. Topping Preparation:
    • In a small bowl, mix all topping ingredients well to achieve a consistent blend.
  4. Assembly for Baking:
    • Drop spoonfuls of the topping evenly over the base.
    • Swirl the topping into the base using a butter knife.
    • Place the pan into the preheated oven and bake for 28-30 minutes.
  5. Glaze Creation and Application:
    • While the cake bakes, mix the glaze ingredients in a small bowl until fully combined; set aside.
    • Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and glaze it while still warm.
