Ideal Peach Pastries
Ingredients
- 2 medium-sized peaches, cut into four pieces and pitted (or use canned peaches if preferred)
- 1 pack of Pillsbury crescent roll dough (8 ounces)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup Fresca citrus-flavored soda
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly coat an 8×8-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles.
- Place a peach slice near the smaller end of each triangle, then roll it up, ensuring the edges are sealed. Arrange these in the prepared baking dish.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Add both sugars and cinnamon, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the dough-wrapped peaches.
- Gently pour the Fresca around the dumplings to achieve a crispy outer layer during baking.
- Bake for approximately 35 minutes, or until the pastries are golden and the peaches are tender when pierced with a fork. Allow them to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestion
Enjoy these delightful peach pastries warm, paired with vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert, or savor them as a special breakfast treat.
Additional Tips
- There’s no need to peel fresh peaches, as their skins soften during baking. However, if you prefer, you can peel them.
- If using canned peaches, a 29-ounce can of peach halves is ideal.
- Fresca adds a refreshing citrus flavor without additional calories. Alternatively, you can use 7-Up, Sprite, or Mountain Dew, but note that this may slightly alter the calorie content.
- For larger gatherings, double the ingredients and bake in a 9×13-inch pan.
