Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds of chicken wings
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup of Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup of Open Pit barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of prepared mustard
  • 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion salt
  • Tabasco to taste (optional)

Equipment:

  • Large baking sheet
  • Slow cooker or oven

Instructions:

  1. Begin by preparing the chicken wings. Rinse them thoroughly and pat them dry. Remove and discard the wingtips, then season the wings with salt and pepper.
  2. Arrange the seasoned wings on a broiler pan or a baking sheet lined with foil. Broil them for 20 minutes, turning them once halfway through the cooking process. Ensure they are positioned 4 to 5 inches away from the heat source.
  3. Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a slow cooker. In a separate bowl, combine the Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, Open Pit barbecue sauce, honey, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion salt, and Tabasco (if desired). Stir the ingredients together until well combined.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken wings in the slow cooker, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours, or on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Alternatively, you can place the chicken wings in a foil-lined baking dish, coat them with the sauce, and bake them in a preheated oven at 350°F for 30 minutes. After the initial 30 minutes, flip the wings over, coat them again with sauce, and continue baking for another 30 minutes.
  5. Once the wings are cooked through and coated in the delicious homemade sauce, serve them hot and enjoy!
