Hamburger Steaks with Onion Gravy
Ingredients:
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup of bread crumbs
- 1/8 teaspoon of ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil
- 1 cup of thinly sliced onions
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of beef broth
- 1 tablespoon of cooking sherry
- 1/2 teaspoon of seasoned salt
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder,
and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into 8 patties. - Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the patties and onions until browned
(about 4 minutes per side). Transfer patties to a plate, keeping them warm. - Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir with a fork, scraping beef bits
from the bottom. Gradually add beef broth and sherry. Season with seasoned salt. Simmer and stir
over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. - Reduce heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
