Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt

How To Make Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F and line a 13 x 9-inch pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large ziplock bag, add cornstarch and chicken breasts. Shake to coat evenly.
  4. In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling.
  5. Dip chicken breasts in the beaten eggs and add to the skillet. Sear chicken until golden and transfer to the prepared pan.
  6. In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, and sea salt.
  7. Pour the sweet and sour mixture over the chicken and bake for 1 hour, tossing halfway through.
