French Dip Biscuits
Ingredients
- 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1/2 lb deli roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon horseradish sauce
- 1 packet (1 oz) au jus gravy mix
- 2 cups water
Directions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.
- Separate the biscuits and split each one horizontally to create two rounds.
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and horseradish sauce. Spread a thin layer of the mixture on the cut side of each biscuit half.
- On the bottom half of each biscuit, place a few slices of roast beef and a sprinkle of Swiss cheese. Top with the other biscuit half, pressing gently to seal.
- Arrange the prepared biscuits on the greased baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, prepare the au jus by mixing the gravy packet with 2 cups of water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.
- Serve the hot biscuits with a side of warm au jus for dipping.
Variations & Tips
- For a different flavor profile, try using provolone or mozzarella cheese.
- Adding a teaspoon of Dijon mustard to the mayonnaise mixture can give a tangy kick.
- For a touch of freshness, consider adding some arugula or spinach inside the biscuits before baking.
