Exquisite Prime Rib Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 bone-in prime rib roast (6-8 pounds)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: Garlic cloves
Instructions:
- Preparation: Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
- Seasoning: Place the prime rib roast on a rack in a roasting pan. Rub the roast with olive oil, ensuring an even coating, and season generously with salt and pepper. For added flavor, consider inserting garlic cloves into the roast using a paring knife.
- Initial Roasting: Put the roasting pan in the preheated oven and roast the prime rib for 15 minutes. This initial high-heat sear helps to develop a flavorful crust on the exterior of the roast.
- Main Roasting: Reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (160°C) and continue roasting the prime rib until it reaches the desired level of doneness. It’s recommended to use a meat thermometer to monitor the internal temperature of the roast. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C). For medium, target 140°F (60°C), and for well-done, aim for 150°F (66°C).
- Resting Period: Once the prime rib reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and allow it to rest for 15-20 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a tender and juicy roast.
- Serving: After resting, carve the prime rib into thick slices and serve immediately. Pair it with your favorite sides for a memorable and indulgent dining experience.
