Deliciously Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds of thinly sliced potatoes
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of minced garlic
- 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 1/2 cups of milk
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Butter an 8×8 or 7×10 pan. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the pan.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes. Whisk in flour, salt, and pepper, and cook for another minute.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Slowly whisk in the milk until smooth. Allow the mixture to simmer lightly to thicken. Then, stir in 3/4 cup of cheese until melted, and remove from heat.
- Pour half of the sauce over the layer of potatoes. Sprinkle approximately 1/2 cup of cheese on top. Arrange the remaining potato slices over the cheese. Then, pour the remaining sauce over the potatoes and sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender and the top is golden brown.
