Decadent Chocolate-Mayonnaise Cake
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with cooking spray and set it aside.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and cocoa powder. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the water, sugar, mayonnaise, eggs (if using), and vanilla extract. Beat until well blended.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing well after each addition, until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before serving.
