Creamy Butter Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 4 large russet potatoes, peeled and chunked
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup whole milk
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Optional: Chopped fresh chives or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
- Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water. Add a generous pinch of salt to the water.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the potatoes until they are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- While the potatoes are cooking, heat the butter and milk in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted, and the milk is warm. Be careful not to boil the milk.
- Once the potatoes are tender, drain them well and return them to the pot.
- Mash the potatoes using a potato masher or a ricer. For extra smooth potatoes, use a hand mixer or stand mixer.
- Gradually add the warm milk and butter mixture to the mashed potatoes, mixing until you reach your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- If desired, garnish with chopped fresh chives or parsley.
- Serve the mashed potatoes hot and enjoy!
These mashed potatoes are luxuriously creamy and buttery, making them the perfect accompaniment to a variety of meals. Feel free to adjust the quantities of butter and milk to suit your taste preferences.
