Budget-Friendly Spouse Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lbs. Ground beef
  • 2 cans of tomato sauce (15 oz. each)
  • 8 oz. Cream cheese
  • 8 oz. Sour cream
  • 8 oz. Egg noodles
  • 1 ½ cups Cheddar cheese
  • 2 tsp. Minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  3. Add minced garlic and Italian seasoning to the skillet, sautéing for an additional 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and sugar, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine sour cream and cream cheese until well mixed.
  6. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain thoroughly.
  7. Grease a 9×13 baking dish and spread half of the cooked egg noodles evenly on the bottom.
  8. Layer half of the cream cheese mixture on top of the noodles, followed by half of the meat mixture.
  9. Repeat the noodle, cream cheese, and meat layers.
  10. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
