  • 1 teaspoon oil for greasing the pan

Toppings

  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce (or tomato sauce), as needed
  • ½ to ¾ cup grated cheese (mozzarella or pizza cheese)
  • ½ teaspoon Italian herbs or oregano
  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 medium onion, cubed and layers separated
  • ½ cup bell pepper (capsicum), cubed
  • 1 small tomato, firm, deseeded, and cubed (optional)
  • 10 olives, as desired (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  1. Cube the onions and separate the layers.
  2. Deseed the tomatoes and bell pepper, then cube them.
  3. Grate the cheese and keep it ready.

How to make Bread Pizza on Stovetop

  1. Grease a pan/griddle with 1 tsp oil. Lightly toast the bread on one side and then switch off the heat.
  2. Transfer the bread to a board or tray with the crisp side facing up. This step is optional but helps to keep the bread firm.
  3. Spread pizza sauce thinly over the bread.
  4. Layer onions, bell pepper, and tomatoes. Next, grate and layer cheese followed by the herbs and chili flakes. Add olives if available.
  5. Place the bread on the griddle, cover the pan, and toast over low to medium heat until the cheese melts. Check frequently to avoid burning.

Making Bread Pizza in the Oven

  1. Arrange the bread slices on a baking tray and preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C).
  2. Spread pizza sauce over the bread slices and layer onions, capsicum, tomatoes, and cheese. Sprinkle herbs and chili flakes, and add olives if desired.
  3. Place the tray in the preheated oven on the middle rack and bake/grill for 8 minutes at 430°F (220°C), adjusting the time as needed until the veggies are partially grilled and the cheese melts and turns golden.
  4. Serve the bread pizza hot as a snack or breakfast.

Using the Air Fryer

  1. Spread sauce over the bread and place it in the air fryer basket. Add toppings along with cheese.
  2. Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 5 to 6 minutes or until golden and crisp. Without preheating, it may take up to 7 to 8 minutes.

Notes:

You can make your own sauce if pizza sauce is not available. Follow the instructions in the post intro using the following ingredients:

  • ¼ to ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon oil (preferably olive oil)
  • 1 small onion (optional), finely chopped
