Baked Fish Sticks Recipe
Growing up, indulging in these savory treats was a common occurrence.
Ingredients:
- 4 Baked Fish Sticks
- 1 pound of firm white fish (such as cod or tilapia), sliced into one-inch wide strips
- 1 cup of Panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Paprika, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- Olive oil or cooking spray for frying
Preparation:
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly grease or spray the paper with olive oil.
- In a shallow dish, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and red pepper flakes.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs until foamy.
- Spread the flour evenly on a separate dish.
- Coat each fish strip in the following order: flour, egg, and breadcrumb mixture. Shake off any excess flour after dredging.
- Place the coated fish strips on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Bake the fish sticks for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and easily flake with a fork. Flip them halfway through baking for even crispiness.
Tips:
- For added crunch, incorporate crushed cornflakes into the breadcrumb mixture. Almond meal is a great gluten-free alternative.
- Experiment with different seasonings like dill or Old Bay seasoning to enhance flavor.
- Spice up your tartar sauce by mixing in some Sriracha for a kick.
- Keep an eye on the fish sticks towards the end of baking to prevent burning, as oven times may vary.
