Delicious Party Biscuits: An Irresistible Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 12 small pieces of mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until the dough just comes together.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times. Flatten it into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 12 equal squares. Place a piece of mozzarella cheese in the center of each square, then wrap the dough around the cheese, pinching the edges to seal.
- Arrange the dough balls, seam-side down, on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- After baking, brush the tops with the remaining melted butter and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve warm.
Variations and Tips
- Experiment with different cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for varied flavors.
- Add a piece of cooked bacon or a dollop of jam inside each dough ball for a sweet and savory twist.
- For extra flavor, mix red pepper flakes with the garlic powder.
- If you don’t have buttermilk, make a quick substitute by combining milk with a little lemon juice.
