Baked Fish Sticks Recipe

Growing up, indulging in these savory treats was a common occurrence.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Baked Fish Sticks
  • 1 pound of firm white fish (such as cod or tilapia), sliced into one-inch wide strips
  • 1 cup of Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Paprika, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
  • Olive oil or cooking spray for frying

Preparation:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly grease or spray the paper with olive oil.
  2. In a shallow dish, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs until foamy.
  4. Spread the flour evenly on a separate dish.
  5. Coat each fish strip in the following order: flour, egg, and breadcrumb mixture. Shake off any excess flour after dredging.
  6. Place the coated fish strips on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they don’t touch.
  7. Bake the fish sticks for 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and easily flake with a fork. Flip them halfway through baking for even crispiness.

Tips:

  • For added crunch, incorporate crushed cornflakes into the breadcrumb mixture. Almond meal is a great gluten-free alternative.
  • Experiment with different seasonings like dill or Old Bay seasoning to enhance flavor.
  • Spice up your tartar sauce by mixing in some Sriracha for a kick.
  • Keep an eye on the fish sticks towards the end of baking to prevent burning, as oven times may vary.
