Classic Pancakes Recipe

Ingredients for Perfect Pancakes:

  • 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
  • A pinch of salt, to enhance flavor
  • 1 ¼ cups of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt to ensure a smooth batter.
  2. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the griddle for each pancake, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancakes and the edges appear dry, typically 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Carefully flip the pancakes and cook until they are golden brown on the other side.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining batter, adjusting the heat as needed to prevent burning.

Can You Freeze Pancakes?

Absolutely! Freezing pancakes is a convenient way to have a quick breakfast on busy mornings.

To Freeze Cooked Pancakes:

  1. Allow the pancakes to cool completely.
  2. Arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet, ensuring they are not touching.
  3. Flash freeze for a few hours or overnight.
  4. Reheat in an oven preheated to 350 degrees F until warmed through.

To Freeze Pancake Batter:

  1. Ladle the pancake batter into serving size portions in freezer bags.
  2. Wrap the bags in foil and freeze flat for up to one month.
  3. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before using.

Enjoy fluffy, delicious pancakes whenever the craving strikes, whether fresh or from the freezer!
