Perfect Roast Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (approximately 4-5 pounds)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Remove any giblets from the chicken cavity and pat it dry thoroughly with paper towels.
  3. Season the chicken generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper, both inside and out.
  4. In a small bowl, create a paste by mixing together olive oil (or melted butter), garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, and paprika.
  5. Rub the chicken evenly with the prepared paste, ensuring it coats the entire surface.
  6. Place the seasoned chicken on a roasting pan or in a baking dish.
  7. Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  8. Allow the roasted chicken to rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
